Advantech has announced the arrival of a new 3.5in SBC using the latest Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz and the dual core D510 1.66GHz processors with ICH8M chipset. The Thermal Design Power (TDP) rating of the Intel Atom N450 single core architecture is only 5.5W, and the Intel Atom D510 dual core processor only 13W, enabling further power reductions, smaller systems, and performance improvements.
The PCM-9362 features a rich I/O connectivity with two Intel Giga LANs (Intel 82567V and Intel 82583V), six USB 2.0, four COM ports, two SATAII interfaces, CF socket, and miniPCIe expansion. Also, PCM-9362 supports single 5V or single 12V power inputs to fulfill different power requirements. PCM-9362 is a 3.5in form factor (146x102mm), which is one of the most popular embedded form factors—the same size as a 3.5in floppy drive bay.
PCM-9362 was designed to be compact, and low profile. The height, including fanless heatsink on the CPU, is only around 25mm, and the total height, including low-profile cooler on D510 dual core processor, is around 30mm, making it suitable for a 1U chassis design.
Because the new processors are manufactured on 45nm process technology, both graphics and memory controller are directly on the same chip. The integrated 2D/3D graphics engine supports DVMT (Dynamic Video Memory Technology) 3.0, and Intel Gen 3.5 and DirectX 9 compliant Pixel Shader 2.0. It also supports MPEG2 hardware decoding, and multiple dual independent display: 18-bit LVDS and CRT.
Advantech also provides an API suite called SUSI, which stands for Secure & Unified Smart Interface, and which includes: GPIO, I2C, SMBus, watchdog, H/W monitor, brightness on/off, CPU speed and system throttling utilities. SUSI makes it quicker and easier for users to integrate and configure their hardware and applications.
