TI Launches SATA 3Gbps Redriver for Mobile, Computing Applications

(Top News, 22 Mar 2010 )

Texas Instruments Inc. (TI) has introduced SN75LVCP412A, an ultra low-power, two-channel SATA 3Gbps redriver and signal conditioner that can extend the interconnect distance between a SATA host and an eSATA connector. The SN75LVCP412A provides the industry's most aggressive low-power feature, which automatically puts the device in low-power mode (<20mW) when the link is inactive for more than 10µs. This capability helps to extend battery life in mobile applications where battery life is of high priority.

The SN75LVCP412A is the newest member of a growing family that complements TI's high-speed redriver portfolio, which targets notebook and desktop PC applications and includes the SN75LVCP412 and SN75LVCP422. The SN75LVCP412A operates from a single 3.3V supply. Integrated 100Ω line termination with self-biasing make the device suitable for AC coupling. The inputs incorporate an OOB detector, which automatically turns the differential outputs off while maintaining a stable output common-mode voltage compliant to SATA link. The device is also designed to handle SSC transmission per the SATA specification.
