Good avalanche ruggedness for IH applications

Fairchild Semiconductor's 1000V/60A IGBT delivers excellent switching and conduction characteristics as well as avalanche ruggedness in induction heating (IH) applications, including IH rice jars, induction cookers and microwave ovens. Com-bining the company's trench technology and non-punch through (NPT) technology, the FGL60N100BNTD achieves above average avalanche immunity which protects it from field failure caused by break down avalanche during off-state. This increases its reliability in IH applications.
The FGL60N100BNTD features switching speeds optimized for IH applications (tf = 130ns, typ) and low saturation voltage to limit conduction losses (VCE(SAT) = 2.5V @ IC = 60A). A built-in fast recovery diode simplifies circuit design and reduces component count. Packaged in a TO-264, the device meets or exceeds the requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020B and is compliant with the European Union requirements, which will take effect in 2005.
