Advanced RF CMOS IC provider Peregrine Semiconductor announced that Intel and National Semiconductor veteran Brian Hurst has joined its executive management team as VP of worldwide sales.

Hurst brings more than 25 years of sales and marketing experience, including executive positions at Cyrix and Transmeta Corp., where he developed strategic relationships with top tier electronics OEMs.

“Brian has an impressive track record of winning business at tier one wireless handset and broadband suppliers,” said Jim Cable, CEO of San Diego, Calif.-based Peregrine, in a statement.

“His proven leadership in cultivating new customer relationships and his valuable expertise will be instrumental in accelerating market share gains in high-growth areas, especially Asia,” he added.

“The disruptive power of the UltraCMOS technology and its impending displacement of GaAs-based solutions seem certain to change how RF applications are designed,” Hurst said.

Hurst was formerly VP of worldwide sales and marketing for Anadigics, a provider of GaAs-based RFICs.

Prior to Anadigics, Hurst was VP and general manager of sales and marketing for the Americas at National Semiconductor, and VP of worldwide sales for Transmeta.
Hurst’s career also includes sales positions at Quantum Corp. and Intel.
He holds an executive graduate degree in international marketing from Southern Methodist University and a B.S. degree in marketing from the University of Texas.
