Avery Dennison RFID has announced that the company has started commercial production of AD-220, high volume Gen 2 RFID tag.
Designed as a high performance general purpose RFID tag for use in a wide range of carton and pallet labeling applications, the competitively priced AD-220 tag is a UHF Class 1 tag based on the Gen 2 EPC Protocol. It features 96-bit Read/Write memory and an operating frequency of 902-928 MHz.
The AD-220 is produced with the Monza chip, developed and manufactured by Impinj. Small enough to fit into a 4" x ˝" label, the AD-220 features a flexible and robust antenna design with an ultra-smooth surface that delivers superior label printability, longevity and performance.
This tag manufacturing process is also used to produce Avery Dennison's recently launched AD-410 tag, as well as the company's new AD-210 Gen 1 tag. The AD-410 tag is designed for use in carton, tray, and pallet applications. The new AD-210 designed for use with various case contents, delivers high printer yields, as well as "plug and play" compatibility with existing hardware and a simple transition path to Gen 2.
Avery Dennison's growing product portfolio has been designed and tested in partnership with industry-leading chip and hardware manufacturers and label converters. The combination of this broadly experienced distribution channel and Avery Dennison's own technical, manufacturing, and applications expertise, offers a compelling value proposition to major CPG companies and other end users who require robust products, exceptional value, and extensive resources, backed by responsive technical support.
"The AD-220 tag is an important addition to our expanding product portfolio," said Mat Mellis, vice president RFID and specialty converting at Avery Dennison. "For end users who are already planning their migration from Gen 1 to Gen 2, AD-220 delivers outstanding quality and performance, enabling a fast, smooth transition. For those who are not ready for Gen 2, we are launching high volume production of our AD-210 tag, an economical, small format "plug-and-play" Gen 1 tag that delivers impressive performance and versatility for use with a variety of carton contents."
