Renesas Technology Corp. announced that it has decided to outsource its IT applications maintenance and to establish a new joint company with Accenture, Hitachi Ltd., and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, which will provide outsourcing services to Renesas.
Since its establishment in 2003, Renesas has been working with Accenture, Hitachi and Mitsubishi to unify and integrate its IT systems, which Hitachi and Mitsubishi operated separately. In January 2006, a fully-integrated system will be activated and is expected to provide a efficient and competitive IT function for Renesas' semiconductor business.
According to Renesas it will utilize the new company's IT systems to improve efficiency of services ranging from planning to management in manufacturing, procurement and logistics at each of sales offices and manufacturing and production facilities both in and outside of Japan. Accenture will provide the overall support to the new company with its depth of knowledge in IT system construction, project management and system development support. Additionally, Accenture will utilize the system construction knowledge at Hitachi and Mitsubishi Electric to further facilitate the business activities of the new company.
The new company will carry out the development, operation and maintenance of IT systems for Renesas' semiconductor business. New company employees are expected to improve their expertise in the IT field by acquiring specialized knowledge in system development and participating in various training programs provided by Accenture.
