Avago Technologies announced it has shipped its 25 millionth embedded serializer/deserializer (SerDes) channel as part of the company's application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) offering for storage, enterprise computing and network equipment manufacturers.
Avago's broad embedded SerDes offering includes cores configured for use in 4-Gbps and 8-Gbps Fibre Channel, XAUI/CEI, PCI-Express and SAS/SATA applications. Avago’s ASIC capability is based on a heritage of high transistor ASIC designs with extremely high SerDes channel count. Previously, Avago integrated 96 3.125-Gbps transmit and receive channels on a single CMOS chip.
James Stewart, vice president and general manager of Avago Technologies’ Imaging Solutions Division, said, "Offering proven, fourth-generation SerDes as well as the ability to ship millions of complex, reliable devices establishes Avago as a leader in embedded SerDes ASICs. Our latest shipping milestone is a testament to the exceptional efforts of our design teams and our manufacturing, test, packaging and assembly partners to ship large production volumes while maintaining the highest level of product quality."
