MetroLaser has unveiled the VibroMet 500V, a single-beam laser Doppler vibrometer, offering non-contact vibration measurement. The VibroMet 500V provides more sensitive vibration measurement over a wider dynamic measurement range compared to its predecessor, the VibroMet 500. In addition to these improvements, the system has a visible red laser beam for easier point and measure operation. Common measurement applications include turbine blades for aircraft and power generators, automobile engines, body parts and mufflers, computer disk drives and storage devices, musical instruments and loud speakers and precision optical and laser systems.
The VibroMet 500V is suitable for quality assurance, product optimization and other applications that require measuring vibration without touching the object being measured. Non-contact measurement avoids modifying the surface being measured resulting in more accurate results. It also allows many different points on the object to be quickly evaluated and is necessary when measuring objects that are very hot or out of reach. Industries served include automotive, aerospace, computers, acoustics and many others.
