JAM Technologies (JAM), mixed signal innovator and developer of the True Fidelity digital-input audio amplifier, announced that it has completed its Series B financing, raising a total of $11.3 million. Austin, Texas-based TL Ventures and Origin Partners led the financing, with participation by Intel Capital and EDBV Management. Angel groups from Boston, including Launchpad Ventures and Hub Angels, also participated.
Eric Rothfus, managing director, TL Ventures, said, "The consumer electronics market is rapidly transitioning to digital audio amplification. This is especially true for flat panel TV, where the increased efficiency is a requirement. We are pleased to lead this strategic round of funding that enables the company to continue to grow and lead the industry in audio solutions."
Marc Yagjian, managing director, Origin Partners, stated, "JAM's strength is in its technology and products that solve the problems that have prevented digital amplification from growing more rapidly."
JAM has recently announced its JM2007 and JM2020, 7-watt and 20-watt products for digital and flat panel TVs. These devices combine the advantages of CD quality audio output resolution and the efficiency of digital-input amplification. The simple to use solution results in ease of integration and reduced bill of materials (BOM) costs that are particularly appealing to manufacturers faced with aggressive time-to-market and margin requirements.
Tom Calvert, senior investment manager of Intel Capital, noted, "JAM's novel digital audio approach can deliver enhanced audio experience to the end user while potentially reducing platform BOM costs and power reduction."
Mike Holt, CEO of JAM, uttered, "JAM is very excited to attract such value-added investment partners. Their participation will help make the JAM True Fidelity Digital Amplifiers the solution of choice for consumer electronics."
