NanoMaterials Technology (NMT) announced the opening of a $1.6 million facility in Singapore. The company specializes in the development and commercialization of production technologies for nanomaterials and counts MNCs like 3M, Weyerhaeuser and BASF amongst its clients.
Dr Jimmy Yun, NanoMaterials Technology, co-founder and CEO, said, "We chose Singapore over all the other countries in the region because of its excellent intellectual properties regime, strong government support for R&D, excellent R&D infrastructure as well as the availability of a highly skilled workforce."
NMT's new set-up includes a good manufacturing practice facility in addition to pharmaceutical and chemical laboratories. The facility will focus on the R&D of its patented high gravity controlled precipitation technology platform, which can be used to make different nanomaterials for such diverse sectors as pharmaceuticals, specialty chemicals and electronic materials.
The company, ranked among the top seven private nanotechnology companies in Asia in The Nanotechnology Report 2004 by Lux Research, decided on Singapore as its base for a number of reasons.
