6WIND, in embedded networking software, has released its 6WINDGate software 2.8, to particularly benefit security gateway vendors keen on exploiting the performance capabilities of IPsec hardware crypto-accelerators and new multi-core MIPS64 processors.
Eric Carmes, COO and co-founder, 6WIND, said, "The network security market has been heating up with the number of vendors doubling every two years, creating an intense race between them to outdo each other in offering higher security performance combined with richer networking functionality. Innovations in processor and hardware technology are beginning to help them produce wider range of scalable and high-performing network security solutions but not necessarily reduce risks associated with software compatibility and interfaces," he added, "6WINDGate software enables them to do this and go one step further. Initially, it is already embedded with all essential networking features incorporated within an intelligent XML-based management system to ease integration with the security OEM's UTM (unified threat management) software. Now, our release 2.8 ensures that its Linux-based open and friendly development architecture and interfaces can also leverage latest processor and hardware technology made for high-performing security applications. This means our security OEM customers go to market even faster while reducing significant development risks and costs."
