GeoVector Corporation, in pointing based search solutions, announced the release of 3D Search Technology for mobile phones. This new technology allows users to obtain information by selecting objects on a map displayed in 3D on the screen of their mobile phone. This 3D map, generated via GPS technology and a built-in compass, creates an intuitive means for the user to interact with the world around them.
Peter Ellenby, director of new media, GeoVector, said, "This has been our dream, ever since GeoVector began researching, prototyping and patenting our pointing search technology in the early 1990s. Mobile devices can now utilize a variety of sensors such as GPS and compasses to have total spatial awareness."
The addition of this 3D interface to GeoVector's existing patented pointing search platform enables many exciting applications: navigation around busy city streets, shopping areas or tourist attractions; m-Commerce, enabling transactions merely by pointing and clicking with a mobile device; real world games based on location-based services (LBS); viewing the history of the locations around you via a mobile phone; and other future applications, utilizing the virtually unlimited potential of this new technology.
