Teja Technologies Inc., supplier of embedded networking and communications software for multi-core processor architectures, announced that Sun Microsystems Inc., in multi-core platforms and servers for the telecommunications industry, has selected the Teja NP Software Platform for its Network Data Plane Suite (NDPS). Using the NDPS in conjunction with Sun’s Netra servers and ATCA blades incorporating the UltraSPARC T1 processor with CoolThreads technology, network equipment providers can develop advanced, high-performance data plane applications.
Raju Penumatcha, vice president of Netra Systems and Networking, Sun, said, "As the market for converged services heats up, network equipment providers need to get to market quickly with reliable high-performance services and applications that will allow them to secure and retain market share. As a result, we needed to provide our customers with a development platform that could create advanced applications quickly with high performance and reliability. We picked Teja NP because we found it to provide the best reliability, performance, scalability and reuse."
Under the agreement, Sun will leverage a version of Teja’s software platform for multi-core applications for its NDPS suite. Sun's NDPS suite is targeted at network equipment providers using Netra servers and ATCA blades for advanced telecommunications data plane applications.
Akash Deshpande, founder and CTO for Teja Technologies, stated, "Sun's Netra multi-core chip and ATCA blade offering is a compelling solution for any networking OEM looking to develop advanced applications. The addition of Teja’s software technology to this industry leading hardware gives those OEMs the ability to get their applications operating at optimal performance levels more quickly, thus allowing them to get to market before the competition."
