Freescale introduces MPC8313E powerQUICC II pro processor

(Product News, 12 Dec 2006 )

Freescale Semiconductor, in the design and manufacture of embedded semiconductors, introduced the MPC8313E PowerQUICC II Pro processor with integrated security.

The new processors integrates a combination of Gigabit Ethernet (GigE), USB2.0, high speed interconnect and advanced power management technologies to provide platform for a variety of consumer applications, including residential gateways, IEEE802.11n access points, digital media servers, network access storage devices and printers.

Powered by the latest generation of Freescale’s e300 core based on Power Architecture technology, the MPC8313E processor runs at speeds up to 333MHz and delivers up to 700 MIPS, enabling deployment of feature rich applications and high performance peripherals. The device incorporates on-chip memory management units (MMUs) and 16 KB of L1 instruction and data caches.

Lynelle McKay, vice president and general manager of digital systems division at Freescale, said, "Growing demand for affordable consumer devices capable of distributing voice, video and data content requires a highly integrated processor with Gigabit Ethernet and an optimal performance ratio. In addition to meeting cost and integration requirements, the MPC8313E processor also offers industry encryption and security technology."
