Renesas Technology Corp. and Powerchip Semiconductor Corp. (PSC) announced an agreement that Renesas Technology will establish an equity stake in Retronix Technologies Inc. (RTX), a wholly owned subsidiary of PSC specializing in system solutions, and start jointly managing RTX’s operations.
The agreement will enable RTX to develop and provide technical support for system solutions incorporating Renesas’ system LSI products targeted at the greater China market for digital home appliances and consumer electronics.
The new joint venture will enhance the efficiency of system technology development and at the same time, enable the development and delivery of system solutions tailored to meet the requirements of the competitive greater China market. Additionally, Renesas hopes to make use of the engineering resources of RTX to bolster its technical support capabilities and further expand its solutions business.
