Richardson RFPD has revealed the release and full design support capabilities for a couple of X-band GaN power amplifiers from Qorvo. The TGA2622-SM and TGA2624-SM work from 9GHz to 10GHz and are offered in 7mm x 7mm air-cavity, laminate-based QFN packages.

For both devices, the RF ports are internally DC blocked and matched to 50Ω, enabling simple system integration. Intended for pulsed applications, including weather and marine radar applications, the GaN power amplifiers promise to deliver superior power, PAE and gain performance that can save costs on existing platforms while enabling the development of future systems.

The TGA2622-SM typically generates 35W of saturated output power with a power-added efficiency greater than 42% and 27.5dB of large signal gain. The TGA2624-SM typically generates 20W of saturated output power with a power-added efficiency greater than 40% and 25dB of large signal gain, detailed the company.
