Fujitsu to launch industry highest capacity 2.5-Inch SATA mobile hard disk drives
Fujitsu Hong Kong
(Product Announcements, 13/12/2007)
Fujitsu Hong Kong Ltd, a leading provider of customer-focused information technology and telecommunications solutions and services, today announced the launch of the MHZ2 BH series mobile hard disk drives (HDDs) to Hong Kong consumers. The new Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (PMR) series of mobile HDDs, which attains up to the industry highest of 320GB, was developed in response to the growing demand for high capacity storage components for notebook computers, compact PCs, consumer electronics and power-conscious applications. The MHZ2 BH series comes with the Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) interface at 3Gb/s that enables transfer speeds of up to 300MB per second. This was designed to meet the growing demand from consumers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for reliable and efficient high capacity storage products. Electrical power consumption has also been a major concern among IT users and professionals in recent years, in particular for mobile and travelling consumers who have a stringent demand on low power consumption and heat generation of HDDs. The MHZ2 BH series offers the low power consumption of 0.6W at idle mode and 1.9W at read/write mode. This enables Fujitsu's latest member of its 2.5-inch HDD line-up to be an ideal ecological solution for the growing demand of applications that require more capacity, performance and reliability with less power usage. 'The latest MHZ2 BH series is yet another example of Fujitsu’s long-standing leadership in responding to changing consumer needs through innovation and technology with a strong commitment to the environment,' said Christopher So, General Manager, Sales Section of Volume Product, Fujitsu Hong Kong. 'The MHZ2 BH series will enable consumers to build or upgrade their systems with industry-leading capacities without sacrificing system performance, reliability and power conservation.' Additional benefits of the MHZ2 BH series include an idle acoustic noise level of 2.4 bels and an operating shock of 325G (2ms). The MHZ2 BH will be available to customers in the first quarter of 2008. Hard Disk Drive Specifications Fujitsu designed the MHZ2 BH mobile hard disk drive series to provide specifications that are vital for today's mobile computing applications, including: - Capacity: 40GB/80GB/120GB/160GB/200GB/250GB/320GB; - Rotational Speed: 5400RPM; - Interface: SATA 3GB/sec; - Maximum Transfer Rate: 300GB/sec; - Read/Write Seek Time: 12ms/14ms typ; - Track to Track Seek Time: 1.5ms typ; - Read/Write Power Consumption: 1.9W typ; - Idle Power Consumption: 0.6W typ; - Standby/Sleep Power Consumption: 0.13W typ; - Acoustic (Idle): 2.4 bels typ; and - Operating Shock: 325G (2ms).
