SINGAPORE, June 12 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Avnet Electronics Marketing, an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT), has been named as one of China's Most Preferred Overseas Distributors at the latest nation-wide reader survey by Electronics Supply & Manufacturing Magazine-China. (Logo: http://www.xprn.com/xprn/sa/200703010917.jpg ) Avnet Electronics Marketing was named as one of China's Most Preferred Franchised Distributors for the seventh consecutive year in the survey, which also recognized the organization as the Preferred Distributor in the 'Best Supply Capability' category. The survey, which is conducted annually in China by Electronics Supply & Manufacturing Magazine-China, analysed the preferences and selection processes of manufacturers, interviewing purchasing executives who were responsible for buying billions of RMB worth of components in the last year. 'We are excited to be selected as China customers' preferred distributor. Following our recent ranking as the world's biggest distributor of electronic components by revenue according to an EE Times' survey, this demonstrates that we not only have the global strength, but also the local focus which is vital in regional markets such as China,' said Stephen Wong, president of Avnet Electronics Marketing Asia. 'China is still the growth engine of Asia and over the past year Avnet Electronics Marketing has steadily expanded our coverage, resources and presence in the Asia region and China in particular. By integrating with YEL in early 2008, we have further enhanced our product portfolio which we believe will strengthen our support to not only our semiconductor customers, but also to our interconnect, passive and electromechanical customers and all others.' 'One of Avnet's unique strengths is our line card, which is both leading-edge and design-friendly. Combined with an exceptional technical capability - our field application engineers have in-depth knowledge of systems and board-level technology - Avnet's strong line-card has boosted our ability to create demand for a variety of applications in different industries, such as telecommunications infrastructure. In addition, we have won recognition from many customers and suppliers further validating the exceptional value we provide,' said Victor Koh, regional president, Avnet Memec China. Manufacturers are continuing to select franchised distributors based on a number of criteria, including pricing competitiveness, supply capacity, technical support, logistics services, financial soundness, product quality, company reputation and their e-commerce capability. 'Avnet scores highly on these criteria. However, our biggest advantage comes from our ability to seamlessly integrate each of these into a single offering that meets the needs of our customers as a total solution, from start to finish,' said Koh.
