The i6A4W step-down units from TDK-Lambda serve as drop-in replacements for costly isolated 1/16th converters driving 12V POL devices in medical, communication, industrial and test equipment.
TDK-Lambda has expanded its i6A family of non-isolated DC/DC converters with the introduction of the 20A i6A4W step-down units that operate from an input range of 9V to 53V. The output voltage of the 250W converters is adjustable from 3.3V to 15V, detailed the company.
The i6A4W series is offered in a 1/16th brick form factor with dimensions of 33mm x 22.9mm x 12.7mm. They allow operation from 48V inputs and serve as drop-in replacements for expensive isolated 1/16th converters driving 12V POL devices in medical, communication, industrial, and test and measurement equipment.
In addition, the i6A4W converters can be used in conjunction with single-output 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V output AC/DC supplies to generate additional regulated high-current outputs with or without battery backup. Units boast efficiencies of up to 97%, minimising power losses and enabling operation in harsh ambient temperatures of -40°C to 125°C, even with low airflow.
Basic features include an output voltage adjustment pin, positive or negative logic, remote on/off and remote sense, as well as input undervoltage, overcurrent and thermal protection. Output voltage sequencing and operating-frequency synchronisation are also available on certain models.
