The Scale-iDriver galvanically isolated single-channel gate-driver ICs from Power Integrations bring the FluxLink magneto-inductive bidirectional communication technology to 1.2kV driver applications.
Power Integrations has released the Scale-iDriver galvanically isolated single-channel gate-driver ICs that offer 2.5A to 8A without an external booster. Aimed at driving both IGBTs and MOSFETs, the components bring the company's FluxLink magneto-inductive bidirectional communication technology to 1.2kV driver applications.
FluxLink cuts the need for optoelectronics and associated compensation circuitry, enhancing operational stability. The Scale-iDriver ICs reduce component count for inverters up to 110kW. With the addition of a low-cost booster stage, it is possible to develop efficient, space-saving inverter designs rated at up to 400kW (15A). The devices meet IEC 60664-1 and IEC 61800-5-1 insulation and isolation standards, respectively, and operate over a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C at frequencies of up to 250kHz.
Other features of the Scale-iDriver ICs, such as short-circuit protection with soft shutdown, undervoltage lock-out for primary-side/secondary-side, and rail-to-rail output with temperature- and process-compensated output impedance, guarantee safe operation in harsh conditions. Controller (PWM and fault) signals are compatible with 5V CMOS logic, which may be adjusted to 15V levels by using an external resistor divider.
Scale-iDriver gate drivers can be used in industrial drives, power supplies, photovoltaic inverters of all sizes, and EV charging and traction equipment. The SID1132K (2.5A), SID1152K (5A), and SID1182K (8A) Scale-iDriver ICs cost $2.57 each in lots of 10,000 units. Reference designs RDHP-1608 (2.5A, 5A and 8A versions) and RDHP-1526 (15A) are also available.
