The aluminium electrolytic capacitors are suited for smoothing, filtering and energy storage in pulsed power applications, according to Vishay.

Vishay Intertechnology has introduced aluminium electrolytic capacitors with improved ripple current capability at an ambient temperature of 105°C. It is designed for power supplies for industrial and home appliance inverters. Vishay’s BC components 299 PHL-4TSI series reduces component counts and lowers costs, while increasing mechanical stability and end-product lifetimes.

Featuring a cylindrical aluminium case with pressure relief, insulated with a blue sleeve, the snap-in, four-terminal devices offer ripple current from 2.45A to 6.77A, allowing designers to utilise fewer components to meet the requirements of applications connected to a three-phase mains. The four-terminal configuration of the 299 PHL-4TSI increases mechanical stability and keyed polarity. The 400V and 450V devices are RoHS-compliant.

As polarised aluminium electrolytic capacitors with a non-solid electrolyte, 299 PHL-4TSI series devices are suited for smoothing, filtering and energy storage in pulsed power applications. The 299 PHL-4TSI capacitors have a 105°C temperature capability and delivery of 5,000 hours while still being able to withstand high ripple currents.

The capacitors can replace banks of large screw terminal devices connected by a bus-bar with smaller parts connected by a PCB. This lowers construction costs and enables soldering processing instead of manual mounting. With case sizes of 35mm x 50mm and 45mm x 100mm, the devices limit the number of components required.
