Front-end power supplies deliver over 35W per cubic inch

Article By : Murata

Featuring a 12VDC main output, the compact power supply provides optional standby outputs of 12VDC, 5VDC, or 3.3VDC output.

Murata has introduced a new line of 1500W power supplies. Packaged in an industry-standard 1U format measuring 54.5mm x 40mm (2.15in x 1.57in), the D1U54P-W-1500-12 has a length of 12.66 inches, the same as the 1200W and 1300W power supplies in its family.

Delivering a power density of more than 35W per cubic inch, the compact power supply exceeds the 80 PLUS Platinum efficiency requirements. Featuring a 12VDC main output, it also provides optional standby outputs of 12VDC, 5VDC, or 3.3VDC output.

The hot-pluggable units are capable of N+1 redundancy and feature active current sharing (ORING FET) permitting connection of up to eight in parallel.

Control and monitoring features include an I2C compatible PMBus interface and front panel LED status indicators. Overvoltage, overcurrent, and over temperature protection is included across the range.

Forced air cooling is facilitated by a low noise, variable speed fan; the direction of air flow, front to back or back to front, can be specified at the time of order.

The D1U54P-W-1500-12-HxxTC is an AC input unit accommodating the full universal input range from 90 to 264 VAC. A DC input model, D1U54-D-1500-12-HxxC, is also available in the same size.

The D1U54P series is targeted for distributed power architecture applications and is ideal for use with networking equipment and server and storage systems.
