The Si823Hx isolated gate driver board from Silicon Labs simplifies the design of power systems that employ Wolfspeed SiC power modules. Wolfspeed’s WolfPack modules are used for numerous power applications, including EV chargers and motor drives in industrial and automotive markets. Silicon Labs’ driver board combines the Si823Hx isolated gate driver and Si88xx digital isolator with integrated DC/DC converter to form a compact, cost-effective design optimized for a wide range of power modules.
Along with 4 A of symmetric peak output current, the two-channel Si823Hx high-side/low-side gate driver offers programmable dead-time control and overlap protection. It can drive a half-bridge topology safely and with minimal design effort. The Si88xx digital isolator generates all the power supplies for the board and communicates power module temperature to the controller.
The gate driver board provides a differential digital interface and user-configurable turn-on and turn-off gate resistors. It is available with 1- or 4-Ω sourcing and sinking gate resistors. Status indicator LEDs and test points ease evaluation and prototyping.
A suite of design resources, developed in partnership with Wolfspeed, is available to jumpstart WolfPack evaluation and development. These resources include a reference design, evaluation test fixture, and system test report. The Si823Hx gate driver board costs $99.
