Rated at 120W, the HQA 120 series of DC-DC converters from TDK-Lambda is qualified with methods consistent with MIL-STD-883 and MIL-STD-202, making them suitable for use in COTS and industrial equipment operating in harsh environments. The encapsulated quarter-brick converters are initially available with 12V, 24V, and 28V outputs. They accommodate a wide input voltage range of 9V to 40V and are capable of withstanding a 50V surge for 10 seconds.

This includes functional testing at low, high, and room temperatures; a 96-hour extended burn-in period; and 10 temperature cycles. With typical efficiency of up to 89%, internal heating is minimised, allowing the HQA 120 converters to operate in ambient temperatures of up to 115°C and a minimum of -55°C (M-grade). Switching frequency is fixed at 270kHz for simplified noise filtering.
HQA 120 converter pinouts follow the industry-standard 5-pin quarter-brick footprint. Two package styles are available: a flanged type with dimensions of 2.39in × 2.2in × 0.5in and a non-flanged version that is 2.39in × 1.54in × 0.5in. Standard input-to-output and input-to-baseplate isolation is 2250VDC. Safety certifications include UL/CSA/EN 60950-1 2nd edition. Units also carry the CE mark in accordance with LV and RoHS directives.
