Multi-protocol analyser supports DisplayPort, HDCP 2.2

Article By : Teledyne LeCroy

The 780E multi-protocol analyser/generator from Teledyne LeCroy is capable of testing HDMI, HDBaseT and DisplayPort devices and distribution networks including HDCP 2.2 verification.

Teledyne LeCroy has introduced the 780E multi-protocol analyser/generator as the latest member of its quantumdata 780 series of handheld test instruments. The device is equipped with DisplayPort input and output ports making it the only portable instrument capable of testing HDMI, HDBaseT and DisplayPort devices and distribution networks including HDCP 2.2 verification, stated the company.

The instrument provides a 7in colour touch screen for operation and for viewing status of outgoing and incoming video and audio. The 780E is equipped with DisplayPort, HDMI and HDBaseT interfaces. Each digital interface is supported by both an output port and an input port to allow testing of digital video sources, displays, audio devices and distribution devices. Testing hybrid converter devices supporting DisplayPort, HDMI, HDBaseT distribution networks is a key application of the 780E as well.

The 780E claims to offer the broadest feature set available in a portable instrument, supporting tests for video, audio, protocols and the auxiliary channels. The instrument can run quick verification tests on distinct devices of any type (sources, repeaters, sinks) as well as entire video distribution networks, including heterogeneous networks comprising a mix of HDMI, DisplayPort and HDBaseT devices.

The device can verify an HDMI, HDBaseT or DisplayPort display's response to HDCP authentication. It can also send HDCP encrypted video content to a downstream repeater (e.g. AVR) and/or sink (e.g. DTV). Check the authentication response from the sink. HDMI Tx interface supports testing of HDCP 1.4 and 2.2. DisplayPort Tx interface supports HDCP 1.3 and 2.2. HBaseT Tx interface supports HDCP verification on sinks with version 1.4.

Both the DisplayPort interfaces, which support link rates up to 5.4Gb/s on 1, 2 or 4 lanes, and the 600MHz HDMI interfaces support verification of HDCP 2.2 authentication on sources and sinks (displays). In addition, the instrument's auxiliary channel analyser (ACA) utility enables monitoring of the HDCP 2.2 transactions in the same way the HDCP 1.4 transactions can be monitored on the existing 780 models.
