A three-axis linear accelerometer, ST’s AIS2IH switches between its five operating modes on-the-fly to optimize resolution and power consumption. The AEC-Q100-qualified MEMS sensor is intended for non-safety automotive applications, including anti-theft, telematics, tilt-inclination measurement, and vehicle navigation, as well as emerging applications like digital drive recorders. Additionally, the AIS2IH accelerometer can be used in industrial IoT and medical devices.
The AIS2IH offers user-selectable full scale ranges of ±2, ±4, ±8, and ±16 g. It is capable of measuring accelerations with output data rates configurable over a range of 1.6 Hz to 1.6 kHz. Typical noise density is 90 μg/√Hz when operating in high-performance mode. Operating current at 3V is 110 μA in high-performance mode, dropping to 0.67 μA in low-power mode at 1.6 Hz. The device includes embedded digital low-pass and high-pass filters, a 32-level FIFO buffer, and temperature sensor.

Operating over a temperature range of -40°C to +115°C, the accelerometer works with a supply voltage of 1.62 to 3.6V. The device is currently sampling in a 2×2-mm LGA package with wettable flanks. Prices for the AIS2IH accelerometer start at $1.50 in lots of 1000 units.
